Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is on a four-day state visit to the nearest neighboring country, India. State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak is accompanying her on this important visit. It is thought that, along with foreign affairs, trade and railways, this time Bangladesh's joint journey with India will also add a new dimension to technology sector. Prime Minister Narendra Modi formally welcomed Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on her arrival at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Tuesday (September 6) on the second day of her visit. She was given a red carpet reception and a guard of honour. Palak was in the middle of the traveling companions. Although there is no visible agreement in this visit, during the visit of Prime Minister and ICT State Minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak to India, 7 issues related to Bangladesh's technology sector will be on the table for the sake of building Smart Bangladesh. In addition to the exchange of technology knowledge and skills, new dimensions can be added to the digital culture of the two countries. Earlier on April 27, the Minister of State for ICT visited the campus and labs of the Indian Institute of Technology in New Delhi. Then he made 7 proposals calling for mutual cooperation from Bangladesh to move forward jointly with IIT in the bilateral meeting. In the meeting, they discussed how the two countries can jointly achieve self-reliance by creating eco-systems in the IT sector in artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, cyber-security, software and hardware development, VLSI, etc. As a part of this, Palak expanded the agreement to create a comprehensive framework for the exchange of information and technology services required by both countries for the development and development of information technology and seamless cyber security by participating in the Raisina Dialogue. At that time it was also planned to form a 'Joint Committee' of seven members comprising four members from BGD e-GOV CIRT and three members from CIRT India. Delhi also invests in edu-training projects in high-tech parks in Bangladesh. In collaboration with the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs, India gave a grant of Tk. 50 crore to Bangladesh to set up complexes in 64 districts under that project. Bangladesh government has its own investment of 350 crores in this project. This work is now in progress. It is expected that through the implementation of this project, India-Bangladesh friendship will reach a new height by combining technology with the cultural heritage of both countries. To that end, on August 17, a memorandum of understanding was finalized between Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority and IIT University on skill development, joint degree and student exchange programs. A similar agreement with IIT Madras has also reached its final stages which will result in IIT Madras having a campus in Bangladesh. https://digibanglatech.news/english/83622/ Apart from this, on September 1st, Startup India and Startup Bangladesh jointly developed entrepreneurship and created a sustainable eco-system; On August 30, an MoU was drafted between CCA Bangladesh and CCA India to use digital signatures using PKI and on August 19, India's National e-Governance Department's joint partnership in e-Governance was drafted. A draft on ensuring cooperation between the two countries in the development of Bangladesh's inter-operable digital transaction 'Binimoy' was finalized on August 25. Also, on August 19, a letter was written to the Ambassador of India on behalf of the Ministry of External Affairs, ERD and Hi-Tech Park Department regarding the supply of ICT equipment and training programs required for the BIDEC Center. Establishment of Bangladesh India Digital Edutrainment Center (BIDEC) in 64 districts of Bangladesh using the existing Muktijodha Complex infrastructure of the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs at the district level. It will be a unique project for education, training and entertainment. It can serve as a single point center. The term edutainment is derived from the combination of the words ‘education’ and ‘entertainment’. So education center is the center where learning is done through leisure. Edutrainment centers therefore offer exciting new ways to learn new things and have fun at the same time. All in all, the ICT department of Bangladesh has prepared the stage for brotherly Bangladesh-India to move forward together in technology skills and experience exchange, cyber security and digital economy.
